Church Council

Vision Statement
We belong to Christ.  Our faith in this truth shapes our lives.  Our faith in action is reflected in our priorities and values:

• Worship is central to our life
• We are committed to growing as disciples of Jesus Christ.
• We understand and profess what it means to be Lutheran.
• Our faith - nourished in worship - is expressed as a deep and personal connection with the needs of our community.
• Our ministries are led by a congregation who fully understands that their ministry is a visible sign of God's love in this world.
• Welcoming hospitality and generous stewardship are outward signs of the love we feel for our church home and ministries.

The secular and financial affairs of the congregation are managed very much like a typical New England town - with an annual meeting to elect a management team.  We hold our annual meeting after worship on the first Sunday in February.  At that time, we celebrate the ministry accomplished through us during the previous year, elect new members of the church council, receive last year's financial results, and vote on the current year's budget.

St James Congregational Constitution

The Church Council is the governing body of the congregation.  It consists of the chairs of each ministry team, a president, vice-president, and secretary and other member-at-large participants.

Contact information for each ministry team is available in our Directory.  Or, check the calendar for Team Tuesday, which is the second Tuesday of the month.  This is an excellent opportunity to talk with those involved on each ministry team and to find out where your talents might be most 'at home'.
