Prayer Chain

“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone…”(1 Timothy 2:1)

What is a prayer chain?

The Prayer Chain is a group of individuals who are committed to responding to the prayer requests of the congregation. They are the rapid response unit, immediately lifting up prayers for those in need as soon as they receive notification.

Members also provide continuing care, praying for those with ongoing concerns.

Why do we need a prayer chain?

The congregation at St. James is indeed a family. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ. The tie that binds this family unit is faith, hope, and love. By God’s grace and mercy we are one. As members of this family we are commanded by Jesus, “that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.”(John13:34)

This is not a quiet intellectual love, not a general feeling of fondness and affection. This is an active passionate love for all of God’s children. Jesus continually prayed for us, continually showed compassion for those in need, and glorified the Father in all His works. We are also called to do the same not only for our congregation, but for our extended families, friends; our community … all of His sons and daughters.

A prayer chain is an opportunity for us to lift up our prayers together in love, living in the service of our Lord Jesus Christ.
