Attendees:  Jen, Tara, Sheri, Gail



JIF (confirmation)
Confirmand/Parent meeting was held on 9/11 – confirmands and parents were given list
of requirements and expectations. 


There are 2 1st year confirmands and 1 2nd year confirmand


Sheri requested an additional leader guide.  She will contact Joanne to order one


Classes begin on 9/18 in the conference room


 


TFC (youth group)
First meeting is Saturday September 24th


Pasta dinner 11/6 after second service – Missions bazaar also this day.


All proceeds will go into the youth activities fund


All youth 4th grade and up invited to participate to earn ‘credits’ (per volunteer hour) for
opportunity to receive money (percentage) for youth events (youth quake, calumet, etc)


Youth Quake:  1/27 – 1/29



Jr. Youth Group:  4th-6th graders
First meeting Saturday September 24th 6:30-8:30
Planning meeting Wednesday September 21st @ 6:30
Kids voted and elected "Kids for Christ" for the name


Purpose Statement --> Kids for Christ:  exists to expose our youth to what God is up to here:  unite
them, their friends and guests in fellowship, nurture them as they grow in faith, and support them as
they realize we can honor God every day with how we live our lives.



Kids Club


Tara has come up with a wonderful scavenger hunt for rally Sunday


Gail will bring in snacks and drinks


Gail will get registrations so Tara and other teachers can focus on the kids


Offering and attendance incentives – point based.  Prizes individualized for winners (by class)


Classes / Teachers for the 2011 -2012 school year:
* Alicia will continue with PreK/K with Caroline Whitaker and Nicola Kutz to help on a
rotating (scheduled) basis
* Katie will teach 1st / 2nd grade along with Jen and Robin
* Carolyn and Jamie will team teach the 3rd/4th grade
* Tara will teach the 5th/6th grade


Format is:  Lectionary for Fall and Spring sessions, Basics (Church seasons and Catechism) for
Winter session.


Single room model – adapted to our Spark Lectionary curriculum
Each 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th grade teacher will oversee/assist their respective classes for the
worksheet and head up one of the tables for the activity portion (game, craft, etc) – use Spark
bonus cd for resources and ideas


Offering September through mid December will be used to support/sponsor Christmas gifts for
a family together with JIF
We will give kids choice for offering for Jan through May: MLF, Heifer, combination, other?


 


Other Youth activities
Acolyte training – September – during the kids club hour by Carolyn – Sunday when Jamie is teaching.  All kids
4th grade and up are invited to participate.


Safe church instruction – presented by Sheri on 9/18 and 9/25 immediately following Kids Club. 
All volunteer and chaperones who intend to work with youth will be required to attend. 
Anyone who cannot make the 18th can see Sheri.


CORI checks required on any adult who will volunteer or chaperone youth.
