St. James History:
Walking in Faith Since 1954
St. James Lutheran Church was established in Barrington RI in 1954 by 205 charter members who, formally worshipping at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Providence, believed the East Bay needed a Lutheran Church. Two years after forming, they broke ground to enter into the adventure of carving out their own space in a new community. Members from all ethnicities came from surrounding communities to worship. The faces have changed, but the mission remains the same: to welcome people from all walks of life to grow through worship, fellowship, and service in the name of Jesus Christ.
